A series of 10 weekly workshops for parents and community based agency professionals seeking to develop or improve their educational advocacy skills. Starts Tuesday October 4, 2011. Mon. October 17: ADHD Awareness Week Program. 6:45 PM at Norwalk City Hall, Norwalk CT. KEVIN KALIKOW, MD., will discuss his latest book Kids on Meds and offer up-to date information about the most commonly prescribed medications for ADHD. Dr. Kalikow is also the author of Your Child in the Balance - An Insider's Guide for Parents to the Psychiatric Medicine Dilemma. Meets last LAST TUESDAY of the month at 7:30 PM at John's Best Restaurant, 1 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897 Parents with children on the Autism Spectrum in Fairfield County, CT. Join us for a great evening out and meet other parents with children on the Autism Spectrum (Autism, PDD-NOS, Aspergers, Atypical Autism). Our network is a great way for Moms & Dads to share stories, learn about area resources and events, discover different interventions and learn to advocate for your child from some very experienced parents. Sat. October 29: CACLD's 41st Annual Conference on "Learning Disabilities and Attention Deficits Through the Lifespan". at the Stamford Marriott. Keynote speaker is Dr. Robert Brooks, a psychologist on the faculty of Harvard Medical School. The conference will also feature workshops, exhibits and a giant bookstore.
